TEXAS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
The Town of Poetry will hold a public hearing at 5:30pm on April 21st, 2026, at the Poetry Town Hall located at 5671 County Road 323, Poetry, Texas regarding the submission of an application(s) to the Texas Department of Agriculture for a Texas Community Development Block Grant Program (TxCDBG) grant. The purpose of this meeting is to allow citizens an opportunity to discuss the citizen participation plan, the development of local housing and community development needs, the amount of TxCDBG funding available, all eligible TxCDBG activities, and the use of past TxCDBG funds. The Town encourages citizens to participate in the development of this TxCDBG application(s) and to make their views known at this public hearing. Citizens unable to attend this meeting may submit their views and proposals to Lora Lehew, Deputy Town Secretary, at the Poetry Town Hall. Persons with disabilities that wish to attend this meeting should contact Town Hall to arrange for assistance. Individuals who require auxiliary aids or services for this meeting should contact the Town at least two days before the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made. La ciudad de Poetry celebrará una audiencia pública en. 5:30 p.m. 21 de abril de 2026 en el Ayuntamiento de Poetry ubicado en 5671 County Road 323 Poetry, Texas con respecto a la presentación de una solicitud al Departamento de Agricultura de Texas para una subvención del Programa de Subvenciones para Bloques de Desarrollo Comunitario de Texas (TxCDBG). El propósito de esta reunión es permitir a los ciudadanos la oportunidad de discutir el plan de participación ciudadana, el desarrollo de las necesidades locales de vivienda y desarrollo comunitario, la cantidad de financiamiento de TxCDBG disponible, todas las actividades elegibles de TxCDBG, y el uso de fondos anteriores de TxCDBG. La Ciudad alienta a los ciudadanos a participar en el desarrollo de esta aplicación TxCDBG y a dar a conocer sus puntos de vista en esta audiencia pública. Adoption of Zoning Code
The Town Council for the Town of Poetry, Texas, will hold a Public Hearing to consider the adoption of a comprehensive zoning code and a comprehensive zoning map for the Town during its Regular Meeting on March 21, 2024, at 6:30 PM at Faith Temple Baptist Church, 11214 FM 1565, Poetry, TX. 75160. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive comments for or against the adoption of the comprehensive zoning ordinance and the adoption of the comprehensive zoning map. Members of the public will be afforded an opportunity to be heard and are invited to attend and provide testimony in support of or against the adoption of the code and map.
On December 8, 2023, I issued a letter to TCEQ to request a public meeting on this air quality permit in order for TCEQ and the applicant to hear the public concerns directly. TCEQ distributed the notice for the public meeting on February 15, 2024 for a meeting to be held on March 21, 2024. By granting my request to hold a public meeting, the official public comment period for the permit will remain open through March 21, 2024. Here are the meeting details:

FY 2023-2024 Budget Adoption
In accordance with Texas Local Government Code § 102.006, a Public Hearing will be held by the Town of Poetry Town Council on Thursday, September 21st, 2023, at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers located at Poetry Town Hall, 5671 CR 323, Poetry, Texas 75160, to hear public comment and to consider adopting a budget for the Town for fiscal year 2023-2024.
Any person may attend and may participate in the hearing. It is requested that you make your view known, either in person, by writing, or by a duly authorized representative at the public hearing. A copy of the proposed budget is available for review at poetrytexas.org and the temporary Town Hall offices located at 19012 FM 986 Poetry, Texas on or after September 3rd. REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS
PRIMARY DEPOSITORY BANK SERVICES
The Town of Poetry, Texas is soliciting sealed applications from eligible and qualified financial institutions with a physical location in the City’s municipal boundaries and/or the Zip Codes of 75160, 75161 to provide primary depository bank services and to participate in the Town’s certificate of deposit purchase program. Sealed applications will be accepted until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021, at the Town of Poetry, Attention: Tara Senkevech, Mayor, c/o 19012 FM 986 Poetry, Texas 75160 with applications to be opened at 2:00 p.m. on this date at this location.

The award of the Depository Bank Services contract is scheduled for consideration by the Town Council of Poetry at its regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17th, 2021, at Faith Temple Baptist Church, 11214 FM 1565, Poetry, Texas 75160.
