Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Since our residence is beyond the 300’ mark of the roadway, we have to await the formation of the Town’s government to self annex. Are we able to participate in the May 1st election?
A: It is our understanding, given our current information, that if any part of your property crosses the town proper, you are eligible to vote in the May 1st election.
Q: I recently moved to Poetry and would like to vote in the upcoming election 1 May, but I haven't changed my drivers license address yet. Can I use any other source of proof that I am a resident? (Water bill, electric bill, purchase of the home, etc.)
A: You have until April 1st to register in your county to vote. You must be registered to vote in order to vote in our May 1st election. It is our understanding that proof of residence (water bill, electric bill, etc.) will not suffice.
